Discover the beautiful woods and shoreline of Blake Island from only inches above the water! Paddle the tuquoise blue waters of the Sound from Fort Ward State Park (Bainbridge) to the campsites of Blake Island, in the woods, just up the hill from Tillicum Village. Delicious meals and camping under the stars will greet you when you arrive.
This is one of the best opportunities you will find to get an introduction to overnight kayaking! Blake Island State Park is only a short distance from Bainbridge island and offers a relatively calm introduction to open water kayaking and kayak camping.
This year we offer two packages:
1. PADDLE AND CAMP. Paddle from Bainbridge to Blake Island for an overnight kayaking adventure! We’ll leave from Fort Ward State Park on the south end of Bainbridge Island and paddle the approximately 4.5 miles to Blake Island State Park, a beautiful camping destination. Once we reach Blake Island, we’ll have a delicious dinner and fellowship under the trees. The next morning breakfast will be provided, then we’ll hit the water again and paddle up the western shore of Bainbridge Island, ending in Eagle Harbor (approximately 6.5 miles). Dinner and breakfast included. Rental kayaks are included. Experience recommended.
2. CAMP ONLY. This year we will also offer a camping only option. Participants who chose this option will ride over via Argosy, camp with us then take Argosy back to Seattle.
Pricing is as follows:
Kayak and Camping (including kayak rental): $110
Kayak and Camping (you provide your own kayak): $60
Camping only (you take Argosy to the island on your own): $50
Included in the registration fee is the kayak rental (where indicated), campground fees, and meals. Transportation from Bainbridge ferry to the launch point is also included in the price. Participants will provide their own transportation to Bainbridge (kayakers) or Blake (camp only).
